Design and develop technology-enhanced educational or training materials and content (eg., curriculum, instruction, performance supports) to maximize motivation, engagement, efficacy, and efficiency with respect to learning.
This virtual tour of Iceland website allows students to explore and study Iceland's culture, geography, and history. Students can view maps, watch videos, and read articles via hyperlinks to learn more about Iceland and complete an integrated quiz to test their knowledge. The website design, layout, and content selection required planning and development to satisfy my goal of creating an engaging and motivating virtual tour for students.
The virtual tour represents the PLO of Design and Development as I learned how to use HTML and CSS to create an interactive, multipage website. By applying design principles, I was able to make the site visually appealing and satisfy accessibility requirements. As a result, the website provides a learning resource that is engaging, motivating, and efficient for students.
Storyboard That is an educational technology tool in which students can create a digital storyboard demonstrating their knowledge of a topic or concept. My Instructional Design Project is a training guide for teachers to use Storyboard That with their students. The Instructional Design project applies design and development using the ADDIE model and includes an analysis of the learning and performance content.
The project also includes the development of learning outcomes, a project scope, and a detailed instructor’s guide to support the implementation of the training model. By following the instructional guide, teachers will be able to train and assist high students to plan, design, and produce a digital storyboard in the form of a t-chart as an alternative form of assessment.
A WebQuest is an instructional website for students to investigate a topic or essential question, use online resources to complete assigned tasks, and analyze what they learn. For the Christopher Columbus WebQuest, I learned how to use HTML and CSS to design and create a multipage, interactive website for my students. The development of this website required me to plan and develop instructional activities for each component of the WebQuest, focusing on learning outcomes and inquiry-based activities.
Learners use online resources to investigate the actions and decisions of Christopher Columbus and apply critical thinking skills to analyze what they learn. Each component of the WebQuest is designed to guide students in researching historical information and forming a response to the essential question.
Designing an informative webpage is helpful for students who can refer to it as a reference page or for completing an assignment online. For this artifact, I used HTML and CSS to create the Netiquette for Teens Webpage for my middle school students. This webpage required me to plan and consider the topics I wanted my students to learn and how best to present the material.
In order to deliver the information on the webpage concisely, I learned how to use headings and subheadings using HTML and CSS. I also applied the design elements of contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity when I created the webpage to make it visually appealing and accessible.
