This is a great video to teach students about inferencing. I would have them watch the video, pausing it several times throughout, and have them write down what they see and what they know and how that forms an inference.
This video is a Schoolhouse Rock video on prepositions. They have put a song with the lesson of what prepositions are. This is a great introduction video to prepositions. I would show it at the beginning of the lesson and as a refresher to what prepositions are. While it is an old school video, kids love it.
The Clocktower is a short video about a dancer stuck in the tower. If she leaves the tower, the world stops and becomes black and white. It could be used in a variety of ways. Students could watch the video and then answer comprehension questions. You could also have the students write the prequel to the story about how the dancer got stuck in the tower.
In the video Taking Flight, a little boy is dropped off with his boring Grandpa. His boring day becomes an adventure with help from their imaginations. In the classroom, I would have students tell the story from Tony's point of view. They could also write about what the dad is thinking about when he picks up Tony.
This video is about a group of meerkats who are working hard to protect their precious flower from the evil vulture. I would use the video to teach point of view. Students could create dialogue based on the point of view of the meerkats, the vulture, or the narrator.
This film is about two robots who are testing seeds on a planet, when the planet gets attacked. This video provides a great opportunity for story retelling or sequencing. Students could create a robot log of the events or summarize the events.
This video carries you through music that represents several characters. It provides an opportunity to identify character traits based on the music. Students would write about how the music represents each character
This video is about a pig who wants to get to a jar of cookies on top of a fridge. It does a great job of introducing the topic of problem and solution. I would utilize this video by having the students identify the problem and brainstorm solutions they would use to get to the cookies.
This video explains and provides examples for idioms. It's a great introductory video for students to learn about idioms. I would have them pick an idiom from a list, act it out, then explain it to the class.
For the Birds is a video about how bullying can affect someone. I would use this to have students form an opinion or persuasion essay about who was the bully in the video and why? What could the characters have done to avoid the ending?
