As students learn about the revolutionary war, they begin to question how information gets passed on without the use of modern day technology. This lesson allows students to learn about the techniques used and then apply it by writing a narrative story that highlights one of the techniques.

Learning Activities:
- Read the ebook Spy Techniques of the Revolutionary War to learn about the different ways information was transported during the revolutionary war.
- Review the characteristics of narrative writing. Watch this Youtube on the 6+ Traits of Narrative Writing to review skills needed.
3. Write a narrative story:
- Explain to students that they will write a narrative story about a spy
- Students will use one spy technique listed in the ebook.
- Students will create a Google Doc and write their story.
- The story should be 4-6 paragraphs long.
- The story should be factually based in the Revolutionary War time period and mention one event that happened in the war.
4. Students will create their own ebook in StoryJumper, adding illustrations.
- Students will watch this video on how to create a book
- Students will copy and paste their story into StoryJumper
- Students will add at least 6 illustrations to their story
- The book should be at least 8 pages long
- Students will create a cover for their book which includes the title and author
5. Share stories
- Students will share their story with the class
6. Assess
- Student's writing will be assessed using this rubric.
