TUVA has three certified counselors on staff to support our students with mental wellness, personal and social development, academic progress, scheduling, and college/career planning.
TUVA will provide Exceptional Education and related services to all eligible students. Students will receive supports and services based on their current Individualized Education Program (IEP). TUVA believes in close collaboration between staff, general education teachers, exceptional education teachers, and parents.
Arizona law requires that children with a home language other than English be assessed using the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) for proficiency in oral language, reading, and writing. Following parent/guardian notification, students who are identified as limited English proficient will be placed in a Structured English Immersion classroom and receive specific instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and grammar.
To support GATE strategies in the elementary classroom, TUVA has at least one teacher at each grade level who is GATE endorsed or in the process of earning gifted certification. In addition, pull-out GATE classes are provided weekly for students who have been identified. At the secondary level, TUVA offers honors, AP, and dual credit courses.
MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) is a process for identifying and providing support for students with academic or behavior needs. Our MTSS facilitator works closely with classroom teachers, counselors, and interventionists to design and deliver academic and/or behavioral interventions.
