Elementary students are graded based on their level of proficiency with the Arizona Academic Standards. Rather than a letter grade or percentages, students in kindergarten-fifth grade will receive a numerical score of 1-4.  Grades for scholars in kindergarten-5th grade will reflect the scholar's understanding and demonstration of proficiency on academic standards, not effort or work completion.

Understanding Your Scholar's Grades

Grades in Canvas will be entered with a score of 1-4. Please understand that a grade of 3 will show a 75% (3/4) grade in Canvas, but these percentages are NOT relevant for K-5 students since a 3 actually means the student has mastered the standard, which is the equivalent of earning an "A." 

Report cards are issued quarterly and will reflect the student's proficiency at the end of the quarter.
