What is 1:1 all about for Parents?

So what is this all about?

The Tuscaloosa City Schools plans to check out devices to some students, including your child, during the 18-19 school year.

• That means that after completing the requirements listed below, students will check out a Chromebook (and charging cable, and protective cover). This will probably happen in November, after the new fiscal year starts in October.
• In a few rare cases, a different device is used. The school technology coaches handle this. All guidelines, directions, and policies that address Chromebooks apply to these devices too.
• Middle and high school students must take their Chromebooks home, keep them charged, and bring them to school every day!
• Elementary school students will leave their devices at school to start with. Some time during the spring semester, elementary students may start taking their devices home every day. When they do, they must take them home, keep them charged, and bring them to school every day!
• Students will no longer have school-based Chromebook carts to use in class.
• Students will be able to learn anytime, anywhere.
• Students are responsible for taking care of the Chromebook and using it properly.

• Students are responsible for taking care of the Chromebook and using it properly.

Students are eligible to check out Chromebooks upon completion of the following requirements:

• Parent and student signature on the Responsible Use Policy
• Parent signature on TCS 1:1 Agreement
• Parent completion of Parent Chromebook Camp
• Student completion of Student Chromebook Camp
