15 service hours (of the total 30 required) must come from this category.
In general, we discourage double-dipping. Service opportunities should be self-initiated and not required for any other organization, club, sport, etc. For example, if your flag football team requires you to volunteer as a team at FMSC, it would be double dipping to count it for NHS too. If your online health course requires 10 hours of community service, it would be double dipping to log those same 10 hours for NHS.

Math Tutoring: Provide an extra set of hands for CDS's official Math Tutoring. You will be helping out the teachers and providing additional one-on-one support for peers. The specific classes you would be helping out with is Algebra 1 and 2 and Geometry both Honors and on-level. Located in E-066 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays-- Thursdays are especially in need as so many math classes have tests on Fridays. If you are not needed, stop by English and see if they need you!
Writing Lab (English) Support: Provide an extra set of hands for CDS's official English tutoring-- The Writing Lab. You may assist the teachers with paperwork, grading, and other classroom tasks. You may be working one-on-one with students in all aspects of the writing process from brainstorming to editing final drafts. You may help all grade levels, but mostly towards the lowerclassmen. Check-in at E233. Writing Lab is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Science/Foreign Language/History Peer Tutoring (aka NHS Tutoring): Sit in with Ms. Sarsam in room E089 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and assist any students who may need help with Science, Foreign Language, or History. The classes are integrated and biology for science, Spanish and French for foreign languages, and World Geography and World History for the social studies classes. There will be no teachers to assist at this tutoring session, so you will be the lead tutor! If you are not needed, stop by English and see if they need you!
