Circulation
TTSD Circulation Limits
To ensure equitable access district wide circulation limits have been established:
K-2 Students can check out 2 books
3-5 Students can check out 3 books
6-8 Students can check out 4 books (plus as many textbooks or class novels as needed).
9-12 Students can check out 10 books (plus as many textbooks or class novels as needed).
Note for Kinder Teachers:
Kindergarteners may start with one book and increase to two after Winter Break.
Popular Titles
If necessary library staff may limit popular genres/titles to one per student so more students have a chance to read them.
Some sites have established a graphic novel limit to share these titles more equitably.
When funds permit, library staff should purchase additional copies of in demand titles and remove limits.
TTSD library fine settlement process:
Check the report log to ensure weekly overdue email reports are running (TTSD Lost & Overdue Materials Message).
Send a printed notice home or call the family.
If the patron cannot pay, offer the TTSD Library Fine Forgiveness form at bit.ly/ttsdfees.
If a student has lost or overdue book(s) please let that student checkout until they reach their limit.
Ultimately, it is most important for the student to have access to material that they want to read at home.
Once students reach their limit, staff may allow students to select from a "Little Free Library" collection as an alternative.
Provide alternate activities (reading, coloring, making...) for students have reached their checkout limit.
Students shouldn't go more than a month without receiving a new book if they want one.
Introduce students to Sora eBooks and audiobooks so if they are worried about losing physical library materials.
How long should I keep fines?
Fines older than four years old can be waived with no penalty.
Families experiencing a hardship can apply for an earlier waiver by completing a Fine Forgiveness form at bit.ly/ttsdfees.
