It is important for users of the fine arts possible examples to understand how the tool can best serve teachers and observers. Users of the fine arts examples must first understand the architecture of the Framework for Teaching, understand the content of the Domains, Components, and Elements, and understand the Levels of Performance. Given a firm understanding of the Framework for Teaching, the presentation of the fine arts examples can bolster reflection and understanding. When situated in a complete professional learning program, users of the fine arts examples will understand there is no intent for the sum of the examples to “add up” to a fine arts curriculum. The intent is not for observers to “look for” any of the examples as they gather evidence in the classroom. If an example at a particular Level of Performance is indeed spotted during an observation, it is not an indication, per se, that the teacher is performing predominantly at the level of the example.
