For two warm, late-September days in Chester, Vermont, what is normally the timeless, charming, and peaceful village green transformed into a bustling haven of dynamic artisanry. With vendors, makers, and artists coming from all over the state to display their handmade goods and talents, the Chester Fall Festival has always been the perfect place to enjoy a September weekend.

Over 70 vendors lined the green, offering everything from hand-thrown pottery and unique, intricate jewelry to original paintings, drawings, and home goods/decor. Whether you were hunting for a one-of-a-kind gift or just browsing with a warm cider in hand, the festival offered something to spark everyone's interest.

Not only is the festival an exciting outlet for fun shopping, but it’s also a great spot to get an impressive lunch. Besides the amazing restaurants and cafes already on the green, food businesses from all around the state came to serve cuisines around the world.. Options ranged from wood-fired local pizza to a visiting ice-cream truck and Thai food, with an apple crisp dessert tent adjacent.

A standout addition to each year’s food services is the student fundraisers, where each grade from Green Mountain Union High School provides food for anyone who wants to contribute to their class money. This money is then used to future class trips, dances, junior prom, and the senior trip. This year they sold walking tacos, mac&cheese, crepes, snow cones, and more!

On top of the purchasable goods, entertainment was on every corner. Live music was going on from the early morning hours to the golden afternoon, with musical artists from all over the area displaying their musical talents, and performances of fire and witches.

More than just a weekend market, the Chester Fall Festival continues to be a gathering place for neighbors, artists, and visitors alike, where we can keep creative and community bonds strong and embraced. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s event such a success! We’re already looking forward to next year.
