GM Mascot (2024)

By: Quicksilver

I’ve been introducing the idea of our school mascot being the Green Mountain Summits, to symbolize that we are always at our peak performance, and maintaining our symbol as mountains with a little tweak in the logo. I wanted to get a teacher’s perspective, so I spoke with Mrs. Hamilton (aka Mrs. Hammy) about her thoughts on my idea.

She thinks it flows very well with our school's name and also thinks it’s an exciting symbol that ties in with the successful atmosphere of our school. We strive to meet our full potential every day here at Green Mountain. This made me think about how, in order to reach the summit of a mountain, hard work, and endurance must be involved, which shows how hard we work for our victories in and outside of school.

Mrs. Hamilton thinks that moving in a positive direction towards change is moving forward with a new revamped mascot or logo so that we can move on to whatever is next for the school and stop spiraling endlessly in circles around the former mascot. Change can be difficult, but the sooner the bandaid is ripped off, the quicker the school can start repairing the morale and school spirit that is desperately needed here at Green Mountain. It is important to build the school up to its full potential and let the students shine.

Enough controversy, it is time to unite and bring this school and community back together. A mascot doesn’t make or break a school, it doesn’t define who we are at Green Mountain, but the students do, WE ARE GREEN MOUNTAIN! Finding a symbol to unite behind is a great first step. So let’s spread the word, and take this step together, so we can move forward as the Green Mountain Summits, to continue on this journey together and toward our peak performance!
