TEACHER AIDE - Grades 3 & 4

Welcome to our classroom!

The 3rd and 4th grade classroom is a family of learners and along with traditional academics, we work on furthering our social and emotional awareness and skills. The school’s REACH program sets the tone for our classroom world.

An important feature of the 3-4 classroom experience is technology. Students learn keyboarding, work in online learning apps, and assignments are housed within Google Classroom. Technology is also utilized for customizing each student’s learning experience according to where they are at. Collaboration is another key feature as students often work in small groups or partners. Grades 3-4 students often enjoy student choice within educational projects and self paced work flow. Project based learning, game based learning and an art emphasis throughout all subjects make this classroom an engaging place to learn.

Each day begins with a class meeting and mindfulness journaling followed by math instruction, activities, practice and games based in the Bridges math curriculum. After a break, students engage in literature based English Language Arts exploration and activities with our Wit & Wisdom curriculum, along with spelling and grammar delivered via Chrome books. After lunch we enjoy art, science, social studies, PE, projects and cursive.

Fridays are half days in which we share work completion with special events including, First Friday, classroom library, auction, school-wide student-chosen electives, and other highlights.  The Mendocino Coast Library bookmobile visits every other Wednesday.

Some recent exciting activities include acrylic painting on canvas, a special classroom Games Day, career exploration, digital art, walking trips around the surrounding area, science labs, and pen pals.
