Finding Funding

Talk with your Program Director and Division Chair about your program's Direct Instructional budget, which can be used for books and materials for specific courses.

The BCTE offers Innovation Grants to support teaching and teaching-related professional development (materials, technology, conference travel, time). Read about the scope of these grants in the "Develop Your Project" section of our Grants page and follow the instructions there to apply.

The BCTE offers Small Tech Grants to support faculty purchases of hardware, software, and subscriptions. Read about the scope of the Small Tech Grants at the top of our Grants page and follow the instructions there to apply.

The Bingham Technology Fund, administered through IT, purchases desktop peripherals and tablets for faculty (in addition to your standard laptop). Need a desktop monitor, keyboard, mouse, dock? The Grants Allocation Committee (GAC) oversees Kenan and Jones Grants for faculty and student scholarly and creative projects. Find that link on Inside Transy → Dean’s page → Grants Allocation Committee, under Faculty Committees.

The Dean’s Professional Development Fund provides funding for faculty conference travel. Find that link on Inside Transy → Dean's page → Faculty Professional Development.

If your appointment included start-up funds, they can cover a range of professional expenses. Try to spend it all! Start-up money can fund anything covered by the sources above. You can also buy things like office furniture. If you’re unsure whether an expense is appropriate for your start-up funds, ask your Program Director, Division Chair, administrative assistant, or the BCTE.
