Facilitator Notes: Lesson is started with a discussion to discuss what it means to translate after lesson 2. What is a translation? What does that mean for the shape, line or point? This is a quick discussion used as a refresher from lesson 2.

Today we will continue to translate lines and shapes as we did in Lesson 2. However, our points, lines or shapes may move in different directions. Translations can occur without a vector. We can also perform translations on a coordinate plane.

The video below introduces translations along a coordinate plane and asks learners to identify the direction of translation that would occur based on the manipulation to either the x or y coordinate.
