Credits and other completion requirements
Earn 30 credits or more from subjects recognized as completion requirements.
Take the Research in Life Sciences and the Lecturein Life Sciences subjects given by your Academic Supervisor each semester.
Take two subjects from Elective Required subjects and earn four credits
Course requirements
Decide which subjects you will take under the direction of your academic supervisors.
Each student has two academic supervisors: one Academic Supervisor and one Co-supervisor. However, a student may have two Co-supervisors based on the decision of the Academic Supervisor.
In principle, students must take the Research in Life Sciences and the Lecture in Life Sciences I to IV courses offered by their academic supervisor, in this order, taking one of the courses in each semester.
In addition to the subjects listed in this table, you may take subjects given by other graduate schools or courses at Toyo University, or other universities (partner universities) based on Article 8 of the Graduate School Academic Rules and Regulations, if your academic supervisors agree it is necessary for educational purposes. (In such cases, each subject can be counted toward the completion requirements only once. The grades and credits earned by taking the same subject a second time or more can be approved but will not be counted toward the completion requirements.)
Moreover, the credits you earned from subjects taken through the above-mentioned method, together with credits you earned before you were admitted to the graduate school that are treated as credits earned by taking subjects given by this graduate school based on Article 10-2 of the Graduate School Academic Rules and Regulations (already earned credits), can be counted toward the completion requirements up to a maximum of 10 credits.
■ Doctoral program
Course requirements
Students must determine which courses to take according to instructions from their supervisors.
A total of two supervisors must be chosen: one academic supervisor and one co-supervisor. However, two co-supervisors may be chosen at the discretion of the academic supervisor.
In principle, students must take the Specialized Research on Life Sciences I to VI courses offered by their academic supervisor, in this order, taking one of the courses in each semester.
In addition to the courses listed in the above table, students are allowed to take courses offered by other graduate schools and courses of our university and by other universities (partner universities), when their academic supervisors consider this necessary for education and research purposes.
