Rotary Club of Towcester's Tidy Up and the Tombles of Towcester.
WELL DONE THE TOMBLES - Over 4 afternoons, the Towcester CE Primary School TOMBLES have worked together in collecting rubbish from a number of areas around the centre of Towcester, from the Watermeadows to the area surrounding Waitrose, they have been busy Tombling away, the whole school was involved and they have been taught a valuable lesson in keeping the environment clean and tidy. Some of the TOMBLES were asking why do people throw litter into the street.
Well done to Mrs Tarbun and teachers, but a bigger thank you must go to the children for their efforts.
The Tombles initiative has been supported by the Rotary Club of Towcester, the Towcester Evening WI and Specsavers-Towcester who donated the High-viz waistcoats.
A BIG THANK YOU to the residents of Towcester and members of the Towcester Evening WI who supported the Rotary Club of Towcester's Tidy Up on Saturday and Sunday.
THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED.

A good turnout on Sunday resulted in a substantial amount of rubbish, aluminium drinks cans and glass bottles, even a road traffic cone from the Mill's stream being collected. The collection was sorted into general rubbish and recycled rubbish and will be collected by WNC.
This is another organised community service by the Rotary Club of Towcester. If you would like to get involved, know more about what the Club does in the community and wider afield, then why not come to one of our meetings, or get in touch by sending an email to secretary@towcester-rotary.org.uk
ROTARY ENVIRONMENTAL PLANS FOR 2025
During 2024 the Rotary Club of Towcester has continued to look for ways to encourage environmental improvements and raise awareness of the dangers of not looking after the planet.
Over a hundred trees have been planted and we continue to work with schools and other communities, to encourage a sense of responsibility and local pride with activities such as litter picking and general planting of flowers and vegetables.
It is worth remembering that we face multiple challenges. Global warming, plastic waste, pollution, litter, threats to wildlife and the ecosystem.
Problems may seem difficult to address but we can all help in simple ways. There is a huge amount of waste. Food, packaging, clothing, single use plastics are examples. With a bit of planning this can be reduced significantly and you can save money too!
This year we plan to widen our activaties and would welcome ideas and support.
We are planning programmes to support businesses and individuals in the achievement of environmental improvements. At the very least these can be satisfying and often fun. At best we hope to make a difference and start a progressive movement.
Rotary can provide help and has international resources to back up with contacts and information.
We would like to welcome younger enthusiasts.
We have a competition for the Rotary Young Environmentalist of the Year. If you are between 7 and 17 give it a go. Entries can include stories of projects, photos, posters, poems.
Lets us know if you are interested and we will do the rest. Winners can win prizes!
