Wiliiam Blake House - IT Project.
Rotary Towcester cherishes its longstanding professional rapport with William Blake House, a registered charity consisting of four small care homes serving the developmental needs of adults with learning disabilities.
Most recently, we (the Club) have purchased four laptops for the new staff training area, which are solely for the purpose of staff training (and potentially resident use). Staff cannot be distracted by their other work commitments when using these devices.
The holistic care approach implemented by William Blake House is inspired by Rudolf Steiner, incorporating the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of their residents as an anthroposophic approa
This can be reflected in the choice of theme for the staff training area; for example, the tree represents a growth mindset whilst its roots symbolise being grounded. When Rotarians Conrad, Dawn and Steph visited last Thursday, they noted that the area felt very calm, peaceful and relaxing.

Thursday 29th August - "YOUNG CARERS" DAY OUT!!! - Today saw 38 "Young Carers" enjoy a day out at Gullivers Land, Milton Keynes, a treat courtesy of the Rotary Club of Towcester. Young Carers means children between the ages of 6 and 11 who, under the guidance of Northants Young Carers Service, face each day caring for a family member, day in, day out, missing out on what other children experience. The youngest, 'Abbi' is aged only 6 and she has taken on the responsibility of helping to care for her 7 year old sister. She does this on a daily basis without complaint.
A day out means so much to these children and gives them the opportunity of behaving like a child and creating a memory. It was a joy to see them having fun, smiling and laughing as they enjoyed the various rides.
Rotary is very mindful of the importance of children, they are the next generation and leaders of the future. It is important to support them, to nurture them as they grow, to give them the best possible start in their lives.
The Rotary Club of Towcester identifies with the youth of Towcester and district and is a strong supporter of Youth initiatives especially through the Rotary Youth Competitions, Young Carers, SNYE, RotaKids, etc.
If you would like to be involved in these initiatives and would like to know more about Rotary in Towcester why not contact us or even come to one of our meetings. We meet on Thursday evenings at the Saracens Head Hotel, Watling Street. Send an email to secretary@towcester-rotary.org.uk or visit the web site www.towcester-rotary.org.uk for further information.

8th July a Talk by Peter Stratton
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE GREAT WAR? The residents of Brook House Care home were entertained to a historical talk on the aftermath at the end of the Great War. The talk was presented by Peter Stratton, who gave a description of the discussions between nations on the claims against Germany for rebuilding Europe. Following this there were a number of memories from some residents who were youngsters in the 1920s and 1930s.
This is a series of talks arranged by the Rotary Club of Towcester in their support of one of the club's Corporate Members, Brook House Care Home and forms part of Rotary's commitment to the community.
If you would like to know more about Rotary in the community then why not come along to one of our meetings. We meet on Thursday evenings at the Saracen's Head Hotel in Towcester. SNYE PRESENTATION - The Rotary Club of Towcester has donated £500 to SNYE to assist in their costs for running the Youth services in Towcester. Newly installed President, Rtn Colin undertook his first official duty as President and presented Amelia Spalding of SNYE a cheque in the sum of £500.
This is an example of how the Rotary Club of Towcester gets involved in the local Youth organisations. In Rotary, we believe that the youth of today must be nurtured and given every opportunity to express themselves, as they are the future.
