TIER II, TIER III & SPECIAL EDUCATION INTERVENTION
Visual supports are tools that enable the student to be able to look at what is being said to him or her. Visual supports can be helpful when a student has a hard time processing words, is a visual learner, needs a visual reminder, or can help the student understand and become more independent during a task.
Visuals can be printed out for the student from the internet, using photographs of real objects, etc.
Can be on a ring, on the student's desk, around the classroom, or multiple ways
Visuals can be black and white or color.
Add words to the visuals for the student.
Use visuals as an addition to the spoken directive given to the student.
Once the student learns what the visual means, the verbal words can be dropped.
