Whether you need a visa to enter Japan depends on your nationality and length of stay.

Passport holders from certain countries may enter Japan without a visa for stays of up to 90 days under Japan’s visa exemption program.

If your nationality is not eligible for visa exemption, you must apply for a visa in advance.

Applicants who require a visa should indicate this on the application form.

Tohoku University will issue an invitation letter to admitted students.
