Vilniaus Uzupio Gymnasium
Our school is a gymnasium with aprx. 600 students and 60 teachers.The main focus and vision of our school is to develop each student‘s abilities and aptitudes, forming mature and responsible personalities. Every year 2 classes with reinforced studying of Natural Sciences and Mathematics are formed.
The variety of foreign languages in our school( English, German, French, Russian, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin) allows our students to enhance both language and communication skills. which they demonstrate practically participating in various projects and exchange youth programs. Our school provides help for students with low academic performance and poor school attendance.Pupils Support Team together with social pedagog and psychologist provides the necessary help to achieve relevant psychological and emotional wellbeing of students and the whole community.The school‘s environment is friendly for students with different needs and expectations.There is low percentage of students that come from deprived and socially sensitive environments. To enhance students‘ creativity, interpersonal skills and involvement an annual 3 day school project is run that is devoted to comprise different historic periods. Various extra curriculum activities including school choir, theatre, dance and numerous sports circles are available to develop students skills and talents.Active contacts with our social partners including Universities, career centres are available for the students of different classes and capabilities relating them to future career prospects. Our students actively volunteer both locally and internationally.The command of ICT is high and widely used in educational process. Our school has been actively participating in different projects: both national and international. Every year there are 2-3 national projects. A project with Užupis artists that has lasted for 12 years; Teacher professional development project; Personal development assessment and self-assessment project. International projects: ( ERASMUS +, NORD+) and exchange programs( with Sicily, Germany) having partnership with countries such as Germany, Japan, Italy, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland. Classes of Formal sciences and Natural sciences, many foreign languages, integrated classes. Gain knowledge related to current affairs:migration and its effect on families and youngsters..Learn to deal with this issue. Nord+ project with Denmark, Norway, Latvia and our school from Lithuania’s side.The impact of migration is a familiar topic in our community. To share experience and to learn from others towards better outcome.
