You may appeal:
the grade that you receive in an NCEA assessment;
a decision by your assessor pertaining to absence from an assessment event, a late submission of an assessment or an application for an extension of time to complete an assessment.
You must first attempt to resolve the issue with the assessor concerned. If this does not resolve the issue for you then you may lodge a formal appeal.
You must submit a completed online Grade Appeal form within 5 school days of being notified of the assessment result. The student must state the grounds for the appeal and supply appropriate evidence.
The Principal's Nominee will investigate the situations.
The Principal's Nominee may consult relevant persons including subject specialist from outside the school as required.
The initial assessor will not be involved in the investigation.
The Principal's Nominee may dismiss the appeal or may alter the result.
The outcome of the appeal will be notified to the student in writing. This would normally be within 10 days of the appeal being received.
The decision of the Principal's Nominee is final.
If the Principal's Nominee was involved in the initial assessment the Principal will nominate another staff member to carry out the investigation.
In extenuating circumstances the Principal's Nominee may, at their discretion, accept appeals after the five day appeal interval.
This covers appeals against assessor decisions on missed assessments and late assessment submissions.
