Year 6 have made us incredibly proud. As a year group they have shown determination and perseverence whilst completing their end of Key Stage 2 Statutory Test. We know that everyone has tried their very best and look forward to the results in July. A special thank-you to all of the adults who have: come in early to make and serve breakfast, sat with the children and supported them during their tests and give words of encouragement when they have seen the Year 6 children around school.
A group of children went to London on Wednesday to watch a performance of Matilda. Due to the formal opening of parliment, they also had a bonus tour of some London sights!
It has been lovely to see the children wearing their own clothes which make them feel happy and comfortable today, this is part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
This week in Reception, the children have been busy exploring the wonders of growing and nature. They have been observing the changes in our bean plants and have been using their knowledge to ensure they stay healthy. The children have taken responsibility for looking after them by making sure they are watered every day. During Forest school, they enjoyed exploring the outdoor environment by going on bug hunts, playing in the mud kitchen and going on a nature hunt to collect natural resources. The children then created a lovely spiral pattern. It has been a wonderful week of hands-on learning and outdoor discovery.
The single most important thing that we teach the children at Tithe Farm is to read and love reading. In order to develop insatiable, fluent readers we need the support of families.
All children from Year 1 - 6 are expected to read five times a week. Families are asked to sign their child’s reading record each time they read resulting in five signatures per week. 5 short reads a week (5 - 10 minutes) play a key role in improving fluency and overall reading ability which in turn allows children to access learning across the curriculum.
We understand that family life can be busy, however we would ask that you make time across your week to support your children to achieve the expected five reads.
Thank you for your continued support.
