Thank-you to all of the families who supported the book fair. It was lovely how many children were excited to visit and purchase a book. Sharing a book together at bedtime (or if your children are a bit older, independently reading) is a lovely way to unwind at the end of the day and sets a good routine away from screens ready for sleep.
A group of Year 5 and 6 children have been at Caythorpe this week. They have had an excellent week away from school (and home) trying new activities. Thank-you to all of the adults who have given up their time to go with the children. Without them, it would not be possible to run trips like these.
Reception have been to Houghton Regis Library this week. They enjoyed exploring the library and hearing stories. The rest of the school will also be visiting the library over the next few weeks. If you are not already a member then it is well worth becoming one, there are lots of activities avaliable during the holidays and each summer they run a reading challenge which everyone can get involved in.
Jade and Garnet class have had a fantastic week exploring the question, How does water travel around a plant? In Science, the children set up an exciting investigation using flowers placed in water mixed with food colouring. They carefully filled clear containers with water, placed the flowers inside, and made thoughtful predictions about what they think will happen over the coming week. We are looking forward to observing and recording the changes as we learn more about how water moves through plants.
Next lesson, the children will become scientists as they investigate how quickly water travels through a plant using coloured water and celery. They will make predictions, carry out observations, and discuss what happens to the celery as it absorbs the coloured water. We can't wait to see the results of this exciting experiment!
Great work, everyone!
Thank a Teacher Day: National Thank a Teacher Day is just around the corner, on Wednesday 17th June, and we're joining this UK-wide celebration of all teaching and support staff.
Our school thrives thanks to the incredible dedication of every single member of our team. From the teachers guiding learning in the classroom to the support staff who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, they truly go above and beyond to help our students succeed. They deserve recognition for their unwavering commitment to our school community. If you know a special teacher, a dedicated support staff member, or school department/team that deserves a shout-out, you can tell them via an e-card here: https://thankateacher.co.uk/thank-a-teacher/thank-a-teacher-form/
It's a great way to let them know how grateful you are.
In the main reception we have a large amount of lost property. Please pop in and have a look to see if there is anything which belongs to your child. Any uncollected items will be disposed of at the end of next week (19th June).
Sports day is scheduled to take place on Friday 19th June. Should the weather be unsuitable for the event to take place we will notify families and move the event to the reserve date of Friday 26th June.
Please note, we do not have permission for all children to have their photos taken or to be put on social media. Please therefore refrain from taking photos of events with lots of children in.
The end of the academic year is Friday 17th July. All children will need to be collected from school at 2:00pm. There will be no Big Fun Club on this day- please therefore make arrangements for collection.
