We have had a really busy 2 weeks at school. Last week saw temperatures rise to record highs. Due to a having a number of air conditioned classrooms we were able to remain open. Year 4 had a great time a Verulamium Museum in St Albans learning all about the Romans and their impact on us today.
This week, I was lucky enough to take a group of Year 4 and 5 children with Mr Wisbey to a rugby tournament which was organised by The Obex Foundation. The Obex Foundation work alongside Tithe Farm to provide a range of oppotunities for the children. This includes Mr D'Silva coaching, after school clubs and sporting tournaments. Our team were fantastic and made the final alongside Beecroft Academy. It was a tight match but Tithe Farm won! The children were able to meet and have some coaching tips from Jason Robinson who captained England's rugby team and played in 3 World Cup Finals.
Today, Year 4 will be camping on the field over night. We know they will have lots of fun and thank the teachers who are staying which makes this possible.
Amethyst Class have been thoroughly enjoying our new English text, Cloud Busting by Malorie Blackman. The unexpected plot twists kept the children on the edge of their seats and sparked some fantastic discussions about friendship, kindness and standing up for others.
Inspired by the style of poetry in the book, the children created their own free verse poems based on our school values, including respect, trust, responsibility and ownership. They reflected on what these values mean to them personally and explored how they can demonstrate them both in school and in their everyday lives. Through their poetry, the children expressed thoughtful ideas about being reliable, showing kindness, taking pride in their learning and making positive choices.
We are now working towards creating a new collection of free verse poems that celebrate why every child is unique and wonderful, encouraging the children to recognise their individual strengths, talents and qualities.

Year 6 have been working on their production this term and the show is progressing well. We can't wait to share it with the whole school and our parents. We hope you enjoy it! The photos show Aquamarine and Onyx classes planning, designing and selling products in their Enterprise week. The task set by Miss Clarke & Mr Hill was to create a business and sell products to our parents, staff and peers. This year, businesses included loom bands, jewellery, brownies, popcorn, savoury snacks, fizzy drinks, car washes, bookmarks, wooden crafts and many more! The children enjoyed working in groups and collaborating to create successful businesses. The final lesson was to review the project to consider the successes and changes they would make if they were to attempt a project like this in the future. It has inspired some students to want to become entrepreneurs when they are older - one child said, 'it was the best day ever'.
