Since I was in 1st year college, I always planned where I'm going to have my internship. It was all my plan to have an internship in HOR (House of Representative). When I was in 2nd year college, I visited the HOR and after that, I suddenly had an idea to have an internship there. But then I also realized the downside of it which it is very far away from my home and it will be difficult for me since I just commute. So, I decided to have another options such as city hall or law firms that is near from our house in Marikina.
And when the pandemic happened, I went to my hometown which is I am currently in Coron, Palawan and I decided to stay here and do my online class here. That's when I also decided that I will have an internship here because the Covid cases here are very low compared to Metro Manila and because of that, the agencies and departments will most probably allow me to be an intern and I am very much likely to have an on-site OJT here. Also, It is the only choice that I have. I can also go to Manila to have an internship there but it's a risk especially some agencies and departments doesn't allow interns for safety reasons because they most likely to require the interns to have an on-site training and they don't want to risk the student's health. So, it's really complicated to go to Manila because of uncertainties and it's not the best choice to choose.
After I attended various mandatory webinars as our school held for the certificates in the 1st-2nd month of semester, I also went to the Municipality of Coron, Palawan and asked the head of HR department if I am allowed to be an intern, since I don't know if they will allow me because of the Pandemic situation but I'm confident that they will allow me because of the low covid cases. Gladly, they allowed me and I comply the requirements that they need and also the requirements that needed to submit online.
After an interview, they accepted me and they assigned me at the Regional Trial Court of Coron, Palawan and we've talked about when I will start and the other things that I need to do first before going under OJT. When I went to the Regional Trial Court before the day of my deployment, I introduced myself to my supervisor which is Atty. Mary Ann Marigondon, the Clerk of the Court, as an intern and I started on February 16, 2022.
In my Deployment Phase, I expected to learn new things of what is going on during the hearing since I haven't witnessed to watch a hearing before and I also learned about some cases because I had the opportunity to read and scan the cases.
During my deployment it's difficult for me to comply the necessary requirements in school because at the same time I am working in my OJT site but gladly, the employees in Regional Trial Court are very understanding about my situation since they know that I am an intern. They always let me do my requirements if I have a free time and they also let me attend webinars while I'm at the office as mandated by the school.
When my supervisor have a free time, she talked to me and give me advices and tips of what I should choose in my future career and where can I work or what are the benefits that I could get. The employees are also very welcoming and they wouldn't mind if I asked things that I don't know and they are very friendly.
In my Job Shadowing Phase, I always expected of what is going to happen since my supervisor let me observed them in my first day of my OJT. And I also always observed what my supervisor's doing while I was working in the office before my Job shadowing. She always have the same routine when there are hearings and the same as when there's no hearing at all.
I decided to took a minimum of 8 hours since I already have an idea of what's going to happen. After the Job Shadowing I learned a lot from my supervisor since I can't tell sometimes of what she's doing so I have to ask her about it and she would tell me things that I don't know.
I already finished my minimum of 300 hours in my OJT in which it took me 2 months to finished it. As of now, even my minimum hours of OJT is already done, I am still working in the office as part of my contract. It will took me another 2 months to finish my contract and gladly, I don't encounter any problems even if I don't finish my contract because they know that I am a graduating student.
