The Regional Trial Court is one of the good training grounds for the students who wants to be a police officer, lawyer or judge someday. Though the Regional Trial Court branch 163 is newly established and since I am the very first intern there, they have plenty tasks that the students will learn based on my experience. I learned not just the tasks of what I always do especially when I'm handling/reading the cases (It is very confidential and only trusted people can handle cases) but also I learned from the people I have encountered in the court such as the lawyers, civilians, the presiding judge and the employees.
There are 9 desktop computers, 1 printer with a scanner, 5 Xerox/Photocopy Machine with printer and scanner, a telephone and a mobile phone (for landline). Some employees are bringing their own laptop if those computers are not available and they are very generous to lend it to our co-employees. The trainees can perform tasks very well because some tasks doesn't need using computers and machineries.
The employees have their own roles but they don't mind helping each other if someone needs help especially if it's needs to be done urgently. They are very flexible about the tasks. They are performing the tasks of other employees if those employees are not around.
The On-the-Job Training Program under the AB Political Science program of the Technological Institute of the Philippines - Quezon City requires its interns to accomplish a minimum of two hundred (300) hours of training. 300 Hours is enough to learn things and it really depends on what department, agency and company that you have been deployed if they are very concerned about your experience and learning they will give you tasks that you will learn from them. I have rendered 308 hours of training in the Regional Trial Court starting from February 16, 2022 up to April 13, 2022.
I suggest that the students must do a 2-4 OJT with different agencies, department and company that they wish to be deployed or depends upon their top 3-4 choices for the whole semester or 2 semesters because it will help them to explore more and it will definitely improve their skills. And also it is their advantage to have different experiences from different companies they have been deployed. At the same time or after their OJT, they will realized of what career path they want to choose for their future where their heart belongs and what makes them happy doing their job. It is like waking up everyday and you are happy because of your job and you have motivation to go to work everyday because you will see yourself that it is a great achievement for you to be there.
Here are my advices to the future trainees:
Before you go to your training ground always listen to your Professors, Instructors and attend the webinars/seminars and listen to the speakers because it will definitely for your own good and at least you have an idea because of them because they have already done it before and keep in mind their advices. Remember, a soldier needs to be prepared before going to war.
Don't choose a company for the sake that you will finish your minimum hours of OJT. In, short don't settle for less. Choose a company as your training ground that you will learn a lot because it will be a great advantage on your part for future purposes. Choosing a company that suits you will be a great guide and it will help you to improve your skills and you will learn from it.
Character and being professional in the workplace is very important. Remember that no one is willing to work with a person who cannot get along with others, who has a bad attitude, lazy, always late, not well mannered and etc. especially if you are working that involves a customer service. If you are a toxic person in the work place no one will like you or try to talk to you even if they are talking to you casually because of work stuffs, it's different if the vibe or atmosphere is very light for everyone and no negative energy circling around. If you are a non-toxic person everyone will like you or even love you and you will get along with them every time even outside of the work place. Same as the officemates/workmates, if you have encountered a person with a not so pleasing attitude, you still need to be nice and civil/casual towards them as long as you are not doing anything wrong to them. Because you are there to work, not to have an issue towards each other. But sometimes, it is okay to talk to that person if that person did anything wrong. You can talk to them nicely so you can easily resolve the issues.
Always do your best even if it's hard and tiring because it is part of the job and even if sometimes you don't like what you're doing. Your hardships will pay off.
