Buddhism is unique amongst the world religions as most Buddhists do not worship a deity.
The Buddha lived around 2500 years ago in India. As the son of a king in a Hindu society, he was destined to live a rich and bountiful life of relative ease. However, he left this way of life as it did not help him answer to the ultimate metaphysical and ethical questions of life. After a long and arduous quest, he found authentic answers to these questions during an unusual mystical experience. This experience was put into words and is what is taught to Buddhists throughout the world today.
In this unit you will obtain a basic understanding of the “Three Jewels” of Buddhism (The Buddha, Dharma and Sanga) and then determine to what extent you find them convincing or questionable.
