In Year 7 we focus on the Medieval era. The Medieval era runs from the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 to the Italian Renaissance in the 15th Century.
This period is important because it saw the development of many empires such as the Byzantine Empire and the Abbasid Caliphate.
It is also important because it was during the early Medieval period that England became a unified country under the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans.
Perhaps the Medieval period is most famous for a series of wars known as The Crusades. Finally, the twin disasters of the Black Death and the Hundred Years War are studied towards the end of Year 7.
Aside from these six main topics we study a variety of events and people such as al-Khwārizmi, Marco Polo and Margaret of Beverley.
