Year 11

OVERVIEW

In the second year of the GCSE course we move into the 20th Century.

This year we study how Hitler overthrew Weimar Germany's system of democratic government and set-up a dictatorship. We also investigate how the lives of ordinary people were turned upside down within Nazi Germany.

We then look at the post-war conflict between the USA and the Soviet Union, known as the Cold War. This involves the study of a range of international conflicts such as the Building of the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
