Standard Chartered Arts in the Park 2024 - Face Painting
Date: Dec 2024
The Standard Chartered Arts in the Park is one of the largest art festivals in Hong Kong. This year, around 23 Ti-I Visual Arts students from F1 to F5 were grateful for having the opportunity to take part in the event on 30 Nov 2024.
This was the first time that our students volunteered at the face painting booth, painting butterfly and tiger faces, baby sharks and thematic images in the story “Around the World in 80 Days” for the visitors. All participating students have received training from professional artists before the event, and our students gained a lot throughout the process, in additional to face painting skills, we also learned communication skills, caring of kids and resilience. At the festival, we had a long queue at the face painting booth, we all enjoyed the day, feeling facial and unique. Special thanks to the local artist, Ms. Felix Yiu, for hosting a
face painting workshop for us.

stART Up Community Arts Project
Date: Dec 2024
Art can be enjoyed by everyone – regardless of age, background, or ability. More than 40 Visual Arts major students participated in the Community Art Programme organized by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation. They studied the life stories of individuals with different abilities, including Frida Kahlo, Stephen Hawking, Nick Vujicic, and Stevie Wonder using these narratives as inspiration for their artistic creations. The project aims to encourage students to
cultivate positive beliefs, learn to overcome difficulties with a positive attitude and enhance empathy through artwork creations, promoting an understanding of equality among people with different abilities and health issues. Their heart-shaped relief artworks and wheelchair accessory designs were showcased at D.Park, Tsuen Wan, from 1 to 14 March 2025.

Jockey Club ICH+ Innovative Heritage Education Programme
Guangcai Making Technique
Date: Mar - Jun 2024
The Jockey Club ICH+ Innovative Heritage Education Programme is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and is a collaboration between Lingnan University (LU) and Hong Kong Art School (a division of Hong Kong Arts Centre). The programme aims to preserve, promote, redefine and revitalize the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Hong Kong by means of a holistic model that integrates Education, Revitalization and Investigation.
This year, we are honoured to have an opportunity to participate in this programme again. All F2 Visual Arts major students learned the history and painting techniques of Guangcai Porcelain from artisans and masters. In the lessons, students were required to design graphics with the concept of combining traditional craftmanship with contemporary art practices. Afterwards, students practiced to apply intricate patterns to the porcelain surface and then enhance the design by filling blank spaces with detailing on a 6-inch porcelain plate. It was a memorable experience for our students to revive Intangible Cultural Heritage, reclaim the cultural essence of artisanship and rediscover traditional values and local identity.
