How do I borrow a book from the Library?

Find the book you would like to borrow, take it to the centre desk where Mrs Fella or one of the student librarians will ask for your last name, so they can issue the book to you.

How do I return my book?

Bring the book back to the central desk in the Library and hand it to Mrs Fella or one of the student librarians. They will scan the bar-code in to the library system. You remain responsible for the book until it has been scanned back in.

How long can I borrow a book for?

You can borrow a book (unless it says otherwise inside the front cover) for three weeks.

Do I have to pay a fine if I return my book late?

No, you don't have to pay a fine if your book is late, but you should return the book by the due date or get it reissued.

What do I do If I have lost my book?

Come to the centre desk in the Library and speak to Mrs Fella. She will look up the cost of purchasing a replacement for the lost book which you will then need to pay. This can be done by arrangement with the finance office through ParentPay.

What do I do if I have damaged my book?

Come to the centre desk in the Library and speak to Mrs Fella. She will check the damage. If the book is badly damaged it may need to be replaced. In this case Mrs Fella will look up the cost of purchasing a replacement for the lost book which you will then need to pay. This can be done by arrangement with the finance office through ParentPay.

I haven't finished reading the book I borrowed what do I do?

Either come in to the Library with your book and ask for it to be renewed because you are still reading it. Alternatively send an email to Mrs Fella via the Contact Us page requesting for the book to be renewed. A new return date will be given to you.

Can I eat and drink in the LRC?

No, students are not allowed to eat or drink in the LRC & Library. The only exception is if they are offered refreshments as part of attending a book club or other event.

What do I do if I need help to find a book?

Ask Mrs Fella or one of the student librarians at the central desk to help you. If you know the name of the book you would like to borrow we are able to look it up and see which section it lives in if we have it in the LRC & Library.

Alternatively you can use the eclipse.net on the system to search for the book you want to read.

How do I become a student librarian?

When there are spaces for new members to join I will advertise vacancies on the Intranet page. Print off and fill in the application form on the Student Librarian page, then hand it in to Mrs Fella at the centre desk.
