There are many useful apps which can help you make the most of your Reading, Discovery, Learning, Development, Relaxation. Drama

Julliard Open Studios allowing you to see the choreography, interviews and performances and follow the script.

English

Barrington Stoke Tints reading app. Dyslexia friendly app giving access to Barrington Stoke books. There are free chapter samples and tints for pages, plus a sliding rule to help with reading. There are in-app purchases for the full books. Currently available on ios for ipad and coming soon on Google Play for Android.

Dictionary.com, a free dictionary app which does have in-app purchases, but works quite well without buying the extra content.

Goodreads allows you to keep track of books you have read or would like to read. Available for ios and Android.

Heuristic Shakespeare The Tempest by Sir Ian McKellern

Ian McKellern relates the play The Tempest with help from actors and commentry aimed at giving you a better understanding of Shakespeare's works. This is app 1 of 37, eventually there will be one for each of Shakespeare's works. Based on the Arden series of plays which has served actors and the Shakespearean community since it was first published. Initially only available for ios.

Warhorse follows the book of the same name through true stories from WW1, giving information about the battles and the survivors as well as an 80 minute film of the book. Only available for ios.

Geography

National Geographic Atlas with maps of the world showing even the most remote places. Includes information and flags as well as being able to mark the map for your own reference. Only available for ios.

History

Somme100 is an app available for ios and Android.

Somme100 gives access to first-hand audio accounts, history, individual stories and diary excerpts, film and photo archives as well as animated battle maps by Dan Snow and the Royal British Legion.

Reading Apps

There are many reading apps available, you can pick more that one to use on your device. Some are tied to a business like Amazon with the Kindle, whilst others like Ultimate Classics gives free access to books. More information below.

Ultimate Classic Library giving free access to 23,469 classic books. Plenty of books to explore. Includes books that are useful background reading to your GCSE and A Level texts.

Wattpad app gives access to self published content as well as some free books by Tolstoy and Shakespeare. Available for ios, Android and Windows. Some of the best selling authors started writing on Wattpad before going on to find a publisher.

Kindle by Amazon works with Kindle ereader. Gives you access to books from Amazon. The app also works on ipad, iphone, Android and Windows devices allowing you to read books purchased from Amazon. Kindle Fire users may also purchase an app allowing them to load books borrowed from your local library in West Sussex.

Kobo by WHSmiths available for ios, Android, Blackberry 10, PC or Mac. Gojimo: A revision app helping you prepare for your exams covering GCSE, A levels, etc. There is a tutor facility providing one to one tutoring on Maths and Science

Science

Stephen Hawking's Snapshots of the Universe available for ios and Android
