What will I do in Spanish GCSE?
GCSE Spanish offers an opportunity to develop your knowledge of the Spanish language through the study of vocabulary, grammar and the cultural context of the Spanish-speaking world. By the end of the course, dedicated learners of Spanish will be able to communicate effectively across a wide range of topics through the four skills of listening, writing, reading and speaking.
How will I be assessed?
At the end of the GCSE course you will sit four examinations in each of the four skills; listening, reading, writing and speaking. These examinations are available in foundation (grades 1-5) and higher (grades 4-9) tiers.

Theme 1: People and lifestyle
Topic 1: Identity and relationships with others.
Topic 2: Healthy living and lifestyle.
Topic 3: Education and work.
Theme 2: Popular culture
Topic 1: Free time activities
Topic 2: Customs, festivals and celebrations.
Topic 3: Celebrity culture.
Theme 3: Communication and the world around us
Topic 1: Travel and tourism, including places of interest.
Topic 2: Media and technology.
Topic 3: The environment and where people live.
Is there anything else I should consider ?
The Modern Languages Department has high standards and expectations of the pupils who study Spanish. Spanish has been a consistently popular Options subjects at The Streetly Academy.
At GCSE, pupils of Spanish are set vocabulary homeworks every week which they are then tested on. This will aid pupils in improving their memorisation techniques, but requires hard work and dedication.
