Minibeast Monday
This week's minibeast is moths! Watch the video below and use the information to create a fact-file all about moths. We want you to write about what they eat, where they live, and what they look like. We would love you to do some drawing in your fact-file too! If some of the facts are not in the video, you could ask a grown-up to help you to do some research on the internet.
When it gets dark in the evening, see if you can spot any moths. As Jess says in the video, they are attracted to lights when it is dark out.
Toilet Roll Telescope
Can you use an old toilet roll to make a telescope to see the stars?
Put the toilet roll in the microwave for 15 seconds to sterilise it.
Decorate the roll. You can paint it, draw on it or colour it in.
Once you are happy with your decoration can you use your telescope to spy what you can see in your garden or outside? Or you could go in to your garden when the sun has gone down and use it to see the stars in the sky? You could use it to go on a sound hunt around your house, how many things beginning with the ‘sh’ sound can you spy?
Spicy challenge: What did you spy using your telescope? Can you tell your grown up or even write it down?
Stick Puppets
This term we are learning all about the story The 3 Billy Goats Gruff, which is a traditional tale.
Mrs Clark has been very crafty and made her own stick puppets to tell the story of another popular traditional tale ‘The 3 little pigs’.
Could you make stick puppets to your own traditional tale or your favourite story? Can you retell them to a grown up or sibling?
Watch the video below and discover why different materials float and sink!
Can you find different objects around your home and test them in the sink and see if they float or sink?
Can you talk to your grown up about why you think some materials float and why some sink?
Can you use the sheet, or write your own to tell us about which objects floated and which sank?
Today marks the end of our daily challenges and home learning.
We would like to hear what you are excited about, in regards to coming back to school.
You could draw a picture or write some sentences about coming back to school, and ask your parents to put it on Tapestry.
We would love to see your work! I'm sure that all of the teachers are excited about lots of the same things that you are!
