A border is a box around a whole page or just a paragraph.
Shading is the colour within the box.
1. When choosing a paragraph border, select the words you would like to put a border around by highlighting them.
2. Click on the Design tab.
3. Click the Page Borders tab and this box will open.
4. Click on borders.
5. Choose a setting on the left-hand side to select.
6. You can take off any side of the border by clicking on the small picture in the preview box.
If you want a border around the whole page, there is no need to highlight it first.
1. Click on the Page Border tab.
2. Click on a box on the left-hand side to select.
3. You can also take off any side of a page border by clicking on the small icon in the preview box.
Click on the Page Borders tab.
Find the word “Style”.
Scroll down to see all of the styles.
Choose a style.
Find the word “Colour”.
Click the arrow to see more colours.
Choose a colour.
Find the word “Width”.
Click the arrow to see more widths.
Choose a width.
Look in the “Preview” box to see if everything is the way you want it.
Click “Ok”.
You can make a picture border if you are putting a border around the whole page.
Find the word “Art”.
Click the arrow to see more picture borders.
First, highlight the words you want to add shading to.
Click on the Home tab.
Click on the shading down arrow.
Click on the colour you want by picking the box that is that colour.
To remove shading, select No Colour.
Practice Tasks: Page Borders
Task #1
Type all the computer words you know, one on each line.
Add a page border.
Pick a style for the page border.
Centre the text.
Save on your DOC as Borders.
Close.
Task #2
Type the names of 6 places you have worked (or want to) in size “14”, one on each line.
Change the font to a Consoles.
Change the font colour to blue.
Center the text.
Add an Art page border.
Save on your DOC as Art Border.
Close.
