LOWER AND UPPER PRINCIPAL UPDATE:
Our entire staff has enjoyed the Florida-Georgia LCMS District Educators' Conference in Daytona for 3 days. This is a powerful time of learning and fellowship where we join other Lutheran schools from the southeastern US to collaborate, learn, and fellowship. We value and invest in professional development for our teachers. This summer was jam-packed with professional development for our faculty and administration.
We had individuals and groups of teachers attend local and national conferences and trainings. Just to name a few, we had Mrs. Lang and Mr. Teel attend the Summer Music Education Institute at Flagler College, Mr. Goupil began his work with the SLED program (a Lutheran school leadership program), and 14 of our Lower and Upper teachers spent 3 days at the nationally-renowned "Get Your Teach On" conference.
Our new teachers actively participate in our mentorship program with returning HCLA faculty mentoring our new hires. This provides valuable academic support and unity across our campuses. The added blessing of Mrs. Rabon and Mrs. Evrley, our assistant principals, has provided additional training and support for teachers in the classroom to meet student needs.
Individually, Mrs. Dinger becoming a certified Yoga instructor so she can teach Yoga as a new 2nd semester PE alternative. Many of our high school teachers attended weeklong courses held by the CollegeBoard to be certified to teach new Advanced Placement courses. In addition both Lower and Upper faculty read On Christian Teaching, by David Smith. Our Upper Campus teachers also read Reconnect: Building School Culture for Meaning, Purpose, and Belonging by Lemov, et al.). These books are the basis of collaborative workshops, called PLCs (Professional Learning Communities), that our teachers are engaged in throughout the school year.
We are so grateful to have talented, passionate teachers who are committed to continuous growth and professional development, both for their own improvement but to model this important work for our students.
Mrs. Jessica Binkley and Dr. Chris Lunardi
Our teachers and administrators are enjoying their time at the FL/GA conference. A wonderful time of fellowship, sharing, knowledge gathering and celebrating the good things happening in Lutheran Schools!
Our PALS FALL FUNDRAISER has begun! A Loyalty Card! With 25 participating vendors offering discounts in Lake Mary, Sanford, Debary, and Orange City locations, is available to you, your family and the Community! This weekend is a perfect time to talk with family, friends, grandparents and out of town guests to ask if they would support you and your school! This is a pre-order event from 9/21 – 10/7 during which time we are asking HCLA families to help us sell Loyalty Cards with many great prizes being offered to participating students. Student incentives for selling the Loyalty cards include tech items, Stanley Tumblers (varying sizes to 40oz), Gift Cards, Homework Passes, Crusader Straw Toppers and more! Prizes are cumulative; students will earn prize levels for their sales total and all lower tiers. All prizes, except for the grade parties, are scheduled to be delivered the week of 10/14.
Donations can be made through the same link used for purchasing Loyalty Card Orders. Feel free to forward the link. We’ve suggested donations in $25 increments to align with card sales and prize awards, but we will happily accept any amount. How will the funds be used? HCLA strives for continuous improvement in all areas including school enrichment opportunities and safety and security enhancements (such as a new security gate for the upper campus). Funds raised with the PALS Fall Fundraiser will be used for such initiatives. Enjoy the rest of the day and we will see you on Monday. If you have questions, please contact upperpals@thehcla.org

Have you had the opportunity to see our new Lower School Building? We invite you to come Sunday the 29th to see the new classrooms, state-of-the-art STEAM Lab and celebrate the blessings God has poured on HCLA! This is not an admissions open house, but instead an opportunity for our HCLA families and teachers to come take a look and share in the excitement. This new building has allowed us to open more classrooms so that we can partner with additional families to meet our mission: strengthen students and families to live a transformed life through Christ. We hope to see you there! 5450 Holy Cross Ct. Sanford.

MRS. CINDY MOON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SEPTEMBER UPDATE
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it - Proverbs 22:6
Dear Holy Cross Families,
As we begin our first full month of school in this new academic year, I am filled with excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to walk this journey together in faith and learning. In all we do we hold steadfast to our mission.
HCLA is a school that strengthens students and families to lead a transformed life through Christ.
This year, our 25th school year anniversary, we are called to "Carry the Torch" not just in knowledge, but in love, compassion, and service to others. As Romans 12:9 reminds us, Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. These words will be our guide as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been preparing diligently to create a supportive and enriching environment where every student can thrive. We are committed to excellence in education, grounded in Christian values , and we look forward to partnering with you to achieve great things this year. Let us continue this new school year with a renewed sense of purpose, united in our faith and commitment to one another.
I encourage each of you to embrace the opportunities for partnership with your HCLA school family!
God has called you to the awesome task of parenting and will provide you with the fortitude to raise confident and successful young men and women. We partner with you on this journey realizing that “it takes a village.”
Thank you! It has been a thrill to see so many parents attend our first PALS meetings, Meet the Teacher Events and first of our Back to School Nights
These are the first of many events and opportunities that you can be involved in at the school. The teachers and administrators at Holy Cross will unite with you to help raise up your precious children one year at a time. Thank you for partnering with us on this beautiful journey.
Peace and blessings,
Cindy Moon
Executive Director
