He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. Matthew 11:28-30
Dear HCLA Families,
We hope you have all enjoyed some relaxation, rest and fun with family and friends this summer! At HCLA we have been busy making plans for another spectacular school year! God continues to bless us with new opportunities, beautiful renovations at both campuses, tremendous growth and as you all know, a brand-new building for our elementary students!
At school, it is that time in the cycle of the year when plans are busily being forged and dreams brought into focus - time to simultaneously look ahead while looking back. As I reflect on the tremendous accomplishments of this past school year, I eagerly anticipate more extraordinary things to come. We are carefully scrutinizing every aspect of our program as we strive to perfect the Christ centered educational experience for your child. I continue to be enthralled by the students and the teachers. At HCLA, each moment of every day is one of creativity, joy, and discovery. I remain humbled that God has given me the honor of serving this unique and extraordinary school.
Please read this mid summer newsletter for important reminders and updates. We cannot wait to see you all back to school in just a few short weeks.
Peace, blessings and gratitude,
Cindy Moon- Executive Director

Lower School: New elementary building, new carpet in existing 4th and 5th grade classrooms and new paint inside and out.
Upper School: New floors in downstairs and upstairs hallways and new office flooring.
We have removed some lockers to widen our hallways. Students will no longer have two lockers so please plan accordingly when purchasing back packs and other items. Locker organization will be very important! If you are buying shelves, etc. the lockers are 29 1/2" tall by 15" wide. As a reminder, no stickers or writing on the inside of lockers, but students are welcome to use magnets for securing items.
All medications a student needs during the school day must be left at the front office for disbursement with appropriate permission forms. You can find required medication forms through your Facts account by logging in and clicking on SCHOOL > RESOURCE DOCUMENTS and locating the appropriate form for prescriptions, over-the-counter or epi-pens. A new form is required at the beginning of the school year with parent and/or doctor signatures. Contact school office with questions.

June 28, 2024
Dear HCLA Parents,
Another successful year at Holy Cross Lutheran Academy has flown by. At our school, each moment of every day is one of creativity, joy, and discovery. I remain captivated and humbled by the honor of serving this unique and extraordinary school. At school, summer is the cycle of the year when plans are busily being forged and dreams brought into focus -- time to simultaneously look ahead while looking back. While we bask in the glory of a spectacular school year, we are carefully scrutinizing every aspect of our program as we strive to perfect the educational experience for your child.
Our accomplishments last year were outstanding! Our journey together has been filled with countless blessings, and I am continually grateful for the partnership we share in nurturing the spiritual and academic growth of our students.
Reflecting on the Year
This past year has been a testament to God’s faithfulness. Our students have not only excelled academically, artistically and athletically but have also grown in their faith. We have witnessed their commitment to Christ through various activities, including chapel services, service learning, student leadership and daily classroom interactions. Our dedicated teachers and staff have gone above and beyond to provide a Christ-centered education, and I am proud of their unwavering dedication.
Looking Ahead
As we look forward to the next school year, we are excited to open our doors to our largest senior class to date and the highest overall school enrollment in history! There is no better time to be a member of the HCLA school community! Holy Cross is one that embraces a challenge, welcomes innovation, charts a responsible course, and diligently sets sail toward continued success. In 2024-2025, we look forward to numerous curriculum and extracurricular enhancements, exciting new programs and extraordinary facility improvements and additions!
Summer Break
I encourage you to make the most of this summer break, using it as a time for rest, rejuvenation, and reflection. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to grow closer together and to God.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. May God bless your summer with joy, peace, and relaxation. We look forward to seeing you all in the fall and continuing our mission to strengthen students and families to lead a transformed life through Christ.
Peace and blessings,

Mrs. Binkley, Lower School Principal | Update - June 28th
It is very exciting at our Lower Campus as we watch the finishing of our new building take place! Even our current buildings are getting a face lift with fresh paint outside and inside the classrooms. We can't wait for you to see it!
The excitement of our new building has definitely been in the forefront, but we are committed to keeping the same level of integrity, care, relationships and academic rigor wrapped in our priority of providing Christian education inside and outside of the classroom. God has provided yet again and led several new highly-qualified teachers to join with us in providing the best Christian education in Sanford and beyond! Our school is growing with most grades having 3 sections. I am happy to announce Mrs. Rabon has joined our administrative team as Assistant Principal (see her bio below). She has been a beloved teacher of ours who we will miss in the classroom, but look forward to having her on our team in this role to support our students and families. With the addition of an AP and the addition of a receptionist, we are staffed to welcome new and returning families.
Summer camp has had lots of fun staying active on campus and heading out on field trips including going to the movies, splash zone and more! Our new playground has been ordered which will have something for everyone! Exciting times ahead! Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Dr. Lunardi | Upper School Principal | Update - June 28th
It's been an awesome summer so far at Upper Campus! While our friends at Lower Campus are busy finishing their new building, we've taken on some smaller projects that we're excited about, both with our facility and our staffing and programming. We plan on having roughly 50 more students on campus than last year, so we're taking out half of the lockers to make the hallways wider (don't worry, everyone will still get a locker, but there will be more room in the hallways!). With that project, we're putting down new wood flooring on both levels of the main building.
To accommodate for the growth of our student body, we're in the process of adding new teachers and staff. We'll have a full update on all staffing changes later this summer, but I can tell you that God has brought us some tremendous teachers and staff so far! In terms of programming, there will be a few more new electives and AP courses, even beyond what we had last year. This is a credit to our students, families and teachers that have worked so hard to put us in a position to run these courses. We are at the midway point between the last teacher workday and the first teacher pre-plan day.
Our campus has not been quiet! Our staff is working hard gearing up for next year, in addition we are hosting Kids Theatre Camp for a few more weeks (get tickets to their performance of The Little Mermaid (July 11 - 13). While this is not an HCLA camp, we do have some of our thespians starring in lead roles! Mrs. Allan provided SAT prep for several of our students this week as well. Please read Mrs. Evrley's bio below and help us welcome her into the new Assistant Principal role! We are grateful for her background, wisdom and eagerness help us with our continued focus of student academic success and leadership. We can't wait to have all our new and returning students back in the building soon! Have a great weekend and even better rest of summer!
Glenda Rabon is honored to continue serving at HCLA in her new position as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Rabon has 30+ years of elementary classroom experience in public, homeschool and private Christian schools at many different grade levels. She has her Bachelors of Science in Education from Florida State University and her Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Central Florida. She looks forward to serving under and learning from HCLA’s amazing leadership, Mrs. Moon and Mrs. Binkley. When not at school, Mrs. Rabon enjoys spending time with her husband, children and eight grandchildren, caring for the animals on her farm, and taking a rowing class from her teammate and friend, Ms. Watson. She is privileged to work at a school that shares her passion for being “a school that strengthens students and families to lead a transformed life through Christ.”
Heather Evrley is excited to join the Administrative team as Assistant Principal on the Upper Campus. She has been a wonderful teacher for ELA and AP Research for the Capstone program, as well as our coach for the Speech and Debate Team. Before HCLA, she taught 8th Grade Language Arts in Palm Beach County for several years and was a Google Educator Ambassador. She also served as the Speech and Debate Coach in Wellington. Mrs. Evrley has a BA in Rhetorical Studies from Hofstra University and Comparative Literature from Florida Atlantic University. When Mrs. Evrley isn’t working, she can be found hiking, camping, painting, attending her local church, or reading to her grandson. She is excited to serve in this role and to work with Dr. Lunardi as we continue to expect academic excellence and Christian Leadership of our students.
