The extended essay is a requirement for the IB Diploma Program. It entails an in-depth study of 40+ hours on a focused topic chosen from a list of Diploma Programme subjects. Engaging in academic research under the guidance of a supervisor, students will delve into a topic of their choice, write a major piece of approximately 4000 words that will be formally presented and structured, undertake three reflection sessions with their supervisor, and then be assessed on their reflection.
