CAS Requirements

When:
Beginning the first month of grade 11, IB students engage in CAS activities on a weekly basis for 18 months.

Students will:

  • engage in activities that encompass one or more of the CAS strands--Creativity, Activity, or Service; (These can be inspired by work within a course, but cannot serve as an assignment for a course.)

  • document evidence of ongoing engagement in a CAS portfolio;

  • Complete reflections on various aspects of their CAS experiences using the seven CAS learning outcomes as the basis for reflection;

  • UNDERTAKE A CAS PROJECT; (This must extend beyond at least one month's duration, providing the opportunity to demonstrate perseverance and develop collaboration, problem-solving, and decision making skills.)

  • use the CAS Stages of Investigation to plan CAS experiences;

  • engage in three formal interviews. (These will occur in the beginning, middle and end of the CAS programme with the CAS coordinator/adviser.)
