The Green School for Boys does not allow smartphones in school.
We have this policy at school for a number of reasons:
It makes you more of a target for street robbery due to the high value of these items.
The school has a very high number of Chromebooks and other networked devices that you can use during the day, should you need to complete any work or other activities that require internet access. This makes smartphones unnecessary during school hours.
If your parents/carers need to make contact with you during the school day must telephone the school office.
If your parents/carers want you to bring a non-smart mobile phone into school, then please be aware of the following:
Mobile phones must be switched off and stored securely between arriving at school and the end of the school day in your lockers.
If you are seen using a brick mobile phone during the school day, or a mobile rings during the school day, it will be confiscated and held securely in the school office until the end of the day.
If anyone is found with a smartphone it will be confiscated and will be returned at the end of each half term. Alternatively, a mobile phone may be returned by prior arrangement for your parent/carer to collect a week after it was confiscated.
