Non-Regulation Items
Students are not permitted to wear non-regulation clothing items with their compulsory/approved school uniform. Non-regulation items include the following:
● Polo neck skivvies underneath school shirts
● Sweatshirts (other than the school polar fleece with logo)
● Any clothing carrying labels (e.g, Canterbury, Nike or other sporting club hoodies)
● The school sports top as a ‘school polo shirt’.
● Tee shirts worn underneath the school polo that are visible or any underclothing that shows below the short or skorts.
● Non-regulation coats and jackets (Students may wear non-regulation jackets and coats to and from school and within the school grounds outside of the 8:45 am-2:45 pm school day.)
In addition to uniforms, the following are not permitted:
● Makeup
● Nail polish or artificial nails.
● Jewellery (except for wristwatches, plain studded earrings or small plain sleepers, greenstone necklaces, or bone taonga)
● Excessive hair product. Hair must be natural and presentable. We also expect children to have hair below their shoulders tied back for health and safety reasons.
Non-Compliance
If any pupil is not wearing our approved uniform, the process we follow is:
I. A standard letter will be sent home to the parent/caregiver by the school requesting the child/children comply with the Terrace End School Uniform Policy.
II. A follow-up letter will be sent home, referring to the first letter and requesting an explanation for the non-compliant items of clothing and advising of a one-week grace period for the School Uniform to be rectified.
III. If after one week the non-compliance of the Terrace End School Uniform Policy has not been rectified, a letter will be sent home from the Board of Trustees Chair inviting the parents/caregivers to a meeting to discuss their non-compliance.
Please name your clothing so it can be returned to your child when items are misplaced, as they frequently are, evidenced by the mountain of clothing we get left with at the end of term.
Sunhats are a must and are able to be purchased from the school office. Your child will be placed into a house group when they enrol. This will determine the colour of your child bucket sunhat.
