Sitting here as a junior with so much left to learn, I am being asked the substantial question, “what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Had I been asked this question a few years ago, my answer would simply be: graduate high school, go to college, find a job. Now, as a result of my experiences at Tenafly High School, I have learned one important lesson---the only way to truly plan for a fulfilling life is to not have any plans at all.
With my one wild and precious life, I will celebrate. Celebrate learning a new piece on the violin. Celebrate a nice hit in my softball game. Celebrate every little accomplishment. Living in a society that is extremely career driven and goal-oriented, we are encouraged to always plan ahead in order to ensure the most success possible. However, I strongly believe that by going from day-to-day appreciating the smaller parts of life, we can live fully and happily. After all, there is a point in time when our lives will flash before our eyes. It is our job to make sure that it is a journey worth watching.
