Grade 5

Dear 5th grade families:

My name is Dasha Baker and I am thrilled and honored to be joining Temple Sinai as the Sunday teacher for the 5th grade this year.  I have worked in Jewish Education for over 35 years as a teacher, mentor, tutor, and workshop leader and my philosophy of teaching is best expressed by Judah HaNasi, “I have learned much from my teachers, more from my colleagues, and the most from my students.”

This year we will be delving into the Torah stories from creation to the Exodus and continuing with the CHAI curriculum and learning about the Prophets.  To allow each student to find their own personal meaning in our sacred texts, I urge students to ask questions.  We don’t always know the answers, but the questions lead to discussions, drawings, poems, and other creative expressions that make the ancient words relevant to our lives today.  I anticipate learning great things from your children.
