Ask for student input regarding session focus

Complete Tutor Reports in the last 10 minutes of each tutoring session (‘Session Summary’ of Tutor Reports should ALWAYS have at least 5 sentences; it should never be left blank)
Tutors Should NEVER:
Touch any device that a student is logged into (Tip: sit on your hands and/or log into your own computer to avoid the urge to touch the student’s device)

TUTOR REPORTS
** Please Note: All tutor reports should be completed no later than 24 hours after the scheduled tutoring session. **
Directions: Use the last 10 minutes of a tutoring session to complete your tutor reports. Sessions summaries should be at least 5-7 sentences long. After each session, provide a summary of what took place including the following:
What was the focus of the session?
What did the student work on?
What areas did the student face challenges?
What areas did the student succeed?
What are the goals for the next session?
Was there any professor feedback or any other timely information that the advisor should know about?
Important Note: Be mindful of the language used in your tutor reports. There is a difference between objective language and subjective language (i.e., “we” vs “the student” when discussing completion of independent work). See examples below:
Do’s: “We discussed the themes of Gilgamesh and the student began writing her introduction.”
Don’ts: “We discussed the themes of Gilgamesh and we wrote a thesis statement.”
Example: "We spent this entire session working on the final paper. [Student name] has written about five and a half pages total, but he explained that his professor is not as worried about page numbers as we initially thought. I am hopeful that after he adds quotes and finishes his conclusion paragraph, he will be close to six pages. He was about halfway through his conclusion paragraph when our session started, so we spent most of the hour working on finishing his final few sentences. He has mastered the art of organizing paragraphs, so he mostly just needed some assistance on the content.
We also discussed how no new information should be introduced in the final paragraph, but rather, the space should be saved for final conclusions about the material. We reviewed the background of each author, and [Student name] working on drawing parallels between each author and the US government. Tonight, he still needs to read over his paper one more time, looking for syntax and repetition. He also needs to make a Works Cited page and add one more sentence to his conclusion paragraph."
