Individual counseling may consist of anywhere between 6-12 sessions with one child. During our sessions, the child and I will work on lessons that help them to better understand their emotions or skill in an area where they may need support in. Throughout the sessions I will also provide knowledge of different types of coping skills that can be used in a time of need.
Topics for individual counseling may include but are not limited to:
Trauma
Grief
Friendship
Self empowerment
Getting along with others
Teamwork
Manners
Leadership
Goal setting
Divorce
Courage
Bullying
Learning and responsibility
Abuse (all types)
Change
Being honest
Organization
Anxiety
Mental health
And more...
Group counseling connects children with peers that may need support with a specific life skill or even with peers that may have had a similar experience. Within the group, all children are allowed to express themselves freely without judgement while also listening and learning from others. Group counseling is a great way to help children better understand their emotions and develop their coping style.
