I am so excited to be your school counselor this year. My job is to support you and your needs.
This is my 13th year in education. Over the last 10 years, I have been lucky enough to be apart of the Nevitt community.
Within my 13 years of education, I've had experience working as a:
2nd grade teacher (1 year)
5th grade teacher (8 years)
Behavior Interventionist (1 year)
School Counselor (3 years)
I am originally from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I earned my Bachelors degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and my Masters degree at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
Let's have a great year!
This is my old lady, Bruna! She is going to be 13 years old this December. She loves to nap, play fetch and eat treats.
My family is so important to me. Here is a recent picture of my parents, my two sisters (Ally and Nicole) and I.
These are some pictures of my friends and I. We always have so much fun together.
Do you recognize any of them?
If there is a time when I am unavailable to provide support or breaks for a child, first please determine the severity of the situation. If the situation is in extreme need of a counselor (suicide report, threat assessment, DCS call, etc.), please contact Administration first--from there, they will contact me to support.
If a child needs a break but I am not in my room:
Direct the child to my Google Classroom page that has a link to the "Students" tab on my website. The child will have access to different calming strategies & brain breaks. This can be done in another area of your classroom with a timer set for anywhere between 5-8 minutes.
No child should be in my room unsupervised.
If you are in need of any other supports such as fidgets, squishies, noise cancelling headphones, timers, etc., please e-mail me. I am willing to allow you to borrow them until they are no longer needed but a "resource check out" form will need to be filled out.
