Capturando los corazones de los niños
¡La Escuela Primaria Nevitt ha sido una escuela de Exhibición Nacional Capturando los Corazones de los Niños durante los últimos dos años!
¿Qué es?
Capturando los Corazones de los Niños es un programa que está diseñado para construir relaciones con los estudiantes y al mismo tiempo permitirles autorregular comportamientos y expectativas.
Componentes del Programa:
Apretones de manos (golpes de codo): los estudiantes son recibidos todas las mañanas con un apretón de manos o un golpe de codo y por su nombre.
Cosas buenas: cada mañana, 2 o 3 estudiantes por clase tienen la oportunidad de compartir algo bueno que sucede en la vida.
Contrato Social: Cada salón ha desarrollado un contrato social. Este contrato fue creado principalmente por los estudiantes, con palabras como esfuerzo, escucha y contacto visual. Los estudiantes firman el contrato y se espera que lo sigan durante todo el día. Si rompen el contrato, pueden recibir una consecuencia.
Cheques: Un cheque es una señal de mano no verbal que los estudiantes pueden dar a otros estudiantes para recordarles que deben seguir su contrato social.
Faltas: Una falta es una señal no verbal con la mano que los estudiantes pueden dar a otros estudiantes que han herido sus sentimientos o los sentimientos de otro estudiante. Si se sanciona una falta, cuenta y el estudiante a quien se le sancionó la falta debe dar al estudiante que ofendió dos "apoyos".
Cuatro preguntas: si un estudiante rompe su contrato social, el maestro o miembro del personal le hará las cuatro preguntas:
¿Qué estás haciendo?
¿Qué se supone que debes estar haciendo?
¿Lo estás haciendo?
¿Qué vas a hacer para arreglarlo?
*La idea de estas cuatro preguntas es darle al estudiante la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre el comportamiento que está presentando y darle la oportunidad de arreglar las cosas. Si continúan con el comportamiento, el maestro les dará consecuencias.
Lanzamiento: al final de cada día, el maestro "lanzará" a sus alumnos compartiendo una cita o un simple "Te amo" para recordarles que no importa cómo haya sido el día, son valorados y apreciados en ese salón de clases.
Capturing Kids’ Hearts
Nevitt Elementary School has been a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase school for the past three years!
What is it?
Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a program that is designed to build relationships with students while also allowing them to self-regulate behaviors and expectations
Components of the Program:
Handshakes (Elbow Bumps): Students are greeted every morning with a handshake or elbow bump and by their name
Good Things: Each morning, 2-3 students per class have the opportunity to share something good happening in the life
Social Contract: Each classroom has developed a social contract. This contract was created mainly by the students, with words like effort, listen, and eye-contact. Students sign the contract, and are expected to follow in throughout the day. If they break the contract, they may receive a consequence.
Checks: A check is a non-verbal hand signal students can give to other students to help remind them to follow their social contract.
Fouls: A foul is a non-verbal hand signal students can give to other students who have hurt their feelings or another student’s feelings. If a foul is called, it counts and the student who the foul was called on must give the student they offended two “put-ups”.
Four Questions: If a student breaks their social contract, the teacher or staff member will ask them the four questions:
What are you doing?
What are you supposed to be doing?
Are you doing it?
What are you going to do to fix it?
*The idea of these four questions is to give the student the opportunity to reflect on the behavior they are presenting and give them an opportunity to fix things. If they continue with the behavior, the teacher will give them consequences.
Launch: At the end of every day, the teacher will “launch” their students by sharing a quote or a simple “I love you” to remind them that no matter what the day was like, they are valued and appreciated in that classroom.
