Living in Miami-Dade
Here you will find some of the neighborhoods where our CMs live.
Brickell, also known as the Financial District, is a high rise residential neighborhood. At the center of Brickell is Mary Brickell Village where you can find an assortment of restaurants and retail shops.
Edgewater is primarily a residential neighborhood, with many historic early 20th century homes. The neighborhood has many high-rise residential towers to the east along Biscayne Bay, and historic homes elsewhere in the neighborhood. Since 2000, the area has grown in popularity, due to its proximity to Downtown and neighborhoods such as the Design District.
Homestead, the second oldest city in Miami-Dade, has a small town feel and is known for its rural character. Homestead is located at the southernmost end of Miami-Dade and is known for its role in agriculture. With easy access to the city via the Florida Turnpike, homestead is a great place for a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown Miami. Housing in this area may provide better pricing than city options.
Hispanic Culture permeates everything in Little Havana – colorful murals, monuments to heroes past and present, elderly men playing dominoes as they discuss politics and cigar rollers deep at work amidst Little Havana’s ever-present aroma of Cuban coffee. These scenes of daily life in Little Havana play out amidst a backdrop of pulsating traditional Cuban and Afro-Cuban music, storefronts, unique galleries and quaint typical restaurants.
The Midtown/Wynwood area is located near downtown and is in the middle of everything. It is an area known for its restaurants, lounges, and shops as well as having a large art presence. The Wynwood Art District is a sub-district of Wynwood that contains over 70 galleries, museums and art collections. The large arts presence brought upon Miami what is conceived as a new Hipster neighborhood. Housing options in the Midtown/Wynwood area are across the price spectrum.
Located on an island between Miami and the beaches, North Bay Village is a corps member hotspot. It is close to many of the communities we serve and offers affordable rent in a laid back beach community feel. Corps members live in large high rise condominium buildings that overlook Biscayne Bay.
