PRISM

Hawai'i PRISM is dedicated to the engagement of LGBTQ+ corps members, alumni, students, and their allies through active dialogue on current school-based issues impacting our LGBTQ+ students and educators. We acknowledge the unique and rich cultural space of our islands, and strive to foster a community of leaders that recognize the importance of intersecting identities for our keiki. To accomplish this, we advocate for LGBTQ+ awareness and inclusivity by cultivating a critical mindset and developing the necessary tools to support LGBTQ+ youth.

Hawai‘i Prism leverages the following structures in pursuit of its mission and vision:

  • Prism Board: a volunteer event-planning and programming board with a focus on connecting Prism members with one another and the broader LGBTQ+ community in Hawai‘i. Get involved by emailing Alika Masei>>

  • Regional programming and events: We are in the process of planning an LGBTQ+ focused EdCamp. Get involved>>

  • GSA Clubs: we aim to create a safe and affirming space for students to explore their identity by establishing LGBTQ+ centered clubs across the island. Interested in starting a GSA club at your school? Contact Mili at: s.milianta@gmail.com

  • Providing Resources: Looking for resources to support LGBTQ+ educators and students? Check out the Hawai'i Support Guide>>
