Using Master's credits for reclassification

If you are eligible for on-time licensure at the end of your first year as a corps member in good standing, you will be recommended for licensure by Teach For America Hawai‘i at the end of June. This date will be your official program completion date. Therefore, any additional academic coursework you choose to take beyond those required for this program and if you are pursuing a Master’s degree must both start and be completed after this date, and meet HIDOE reclassification guidelines in order to be used for future reclassification. Should you choose to take any additional coursework that takes place before this date, it will not count for reclassification credits.

Example: if you are recommended for licensure on time with an effective date of June 30, only courses that begin after July 1 count towards your next reclassification.
